Asa Harris - President
Asa founded Harris Integrated Management in 2012 with the vision of delivering third party development management services. From 2012 through 2016 the business transitioned from providing third party development management services into a real estate development company. In 2017, the company was rebranded as Harris Development Partners.
In addition to managing development projects, Asa specializes in site evaluation and selection as well as pre-development financial analysis and site planning. His experience in real estate development provides him with a wealth of knowledge navigating complex urban sites, environmental contamination, vertical mixed use developments, and complex redevelopments.
Prior to founding Harris Development Partners, Asa successfully managed many commercial development projects in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida in his tenure with Regency Centers and Armstrong Development. He has collaborated with leading national tenants who include Publix, Whole Foods, Walmart, Walgreens, Harris Teeter, Lowes Foods, and L.A. Fitness.
Asa holds a Master of Engineering Management degree from Duke University and a BS degree in Civil Engineering from Clemson University. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in North Carolina and a LEED accredited professional. Asa also serves on the Board of Trustees for Follow the Child Montessori School, a nonprofit school whose mission is to foster independence, responsibility, and self-motivation in children.
Karla Kassebaum - Partner
Karla joined Harris Development in 2014 and was named a partner in 2017. Karla manages development projects with project experience including redevelopment of existing shopping centers as well as ground up development. With a strategic approach to development management, Karla cultivates a positive productive team environment while ensuring risk management plans are in place.
Karla’s experience as a paralegal in real estate transactions and litigation is an invaluable asset when it comes to negotiating contracts and agreements in addition to evaluating development risks. She has a critical eye for detail and a unique viewpoint on potential development issues.
Karla has managed staff, programs, and projects, and previously worked closely with the owner of a small development company in the hospitality industry overseeing and collaborating with consultants in the design, engineering, and construction of hotel and retail developments. She has overseen property management and legal teams in the operational setup of new shopping centers. Karla has also collaborated with leading national tenants and owners such as Publix, Marriott, Chipotle Mexican Grill, Mattress Firm, PDQ, Jimmy Johns, Freddy’s, and Starbucks.
Alex Weik - Development Associate
Alex joined Harris Development in May of 2021. He provides support throughout the development lifecycle, focusing on due diligence and site investigation, pre-design activities, and offers support during the construction and closeout of developments.
He has experience collaborating with Commercial Real Estate groups of all sizes, previously working for the Investment Management Software Division of RealPage, Inc. He also worked for a Power Quality Solutions company, helping to build the Services Division in the States of North and South Carolina.
Alex is passionate about learning, building relationships, and is looking forward to growing his career in the Development space. He is also detail-oriented and forward thinking, and is a great support to both our internal and external team members in executing developments on time and on budget.
Alex holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the North Carolina State University Poole College of Management.
Kai Glover – Development Associate
Kai joined Harris Development in February 2024. He contributes to the success of the company through providing support over the course of the entire development life-cycle from due diligence and pre-design through construction and closeout.
His prior experience in multifamily real estate development working for TWG specializing in affordable housing developments helped him grow his analytical and detail skills while building strong relationships with stakeholders. His experience with E&K Companies, an exterior and interior finish contractor, gave him valuable insight into construction management on a multi-billion-dollar project.
Kai is deeply committed to expanding his skills within the development industry and thrives on collaborating with his team members while approaching each task with great attention to detail.
Kai holds a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management from Purdue University’s Polytechnic Institute.
